After earning her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in 1993, Dr. Lai interned at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In 1996, she completed her residency in Baylor’s Physical Medicine and rehabilitation program before accepting a fellowship at The University of North Carolina with a focus in Musculoskeletal Medicine.

Dr. Lai saw me many years ago for my back issues. She was able to rule out many medications as insufficient for my pain. She referred me to Dr. Sweilam, who has treated me since then. Just a few months ago, Dr. Sweilam found a medication that has helped. With his leaving, he referred me back to Dr. Lai. After all this time, she remembered me and picked right back up, following Dr. Sweilam's treatment plan.

Dr. Lai listens to questions and gives answers even if it's not the ones you want to hear. She is very knowledgeable in her field seems to have my best interests in mind.

She was very kind, polite and soft spoken, it helped me control my anxiety because I find it difficult to be in a controlled environment, especially one that focuses on me. The only thing I would add is I wished the spine center itself were closer to home, because I live in Humble, and the traffic is very bad, I was constantly worried I would be late.

I like D r Lai, kindness , gentleness and willingness to listen to your questions and her taking time to answer you. When seeing Dr Lai you are treated as an individual person not as an assembly line production .
